‘Jamie is highly professional. His feedback is very helpful in flagging up any errors that we miss and suggesting edits that improve the readability of our copy. He is our go-to whenever we need proofreading!’
RICHARD ACLAND Design Bridge
EDITING Expert
With four years of freelance experience spanning magazines, book publishing and brand communications, I bring a sharp eye and a calm head to every project. I’ve worked with a range of publishers and creative agencies – including Design Bridge, one of the world’s leading brand design consultancies – and I currently subedit for Hotshoe, an internationally distributed photography magazine. I hold an NCTJ journalism diploma and bring a solid understanding of house style, editorial consistency and the realities of production schedules.
‘Jamie always works to our deadlines and is thorough, professional and really great to work with. We are so pleased to have found him!’

01
Journalism
I passed all modules with distinction, gaining A–C in all modules. This, along with my later experience working as a freelance magazine subeditor and as a freelance journalist for a local newspaper and review websites, means that I understand the pressures and expectations of the industry. Deadlines are tight and accuracy is critical.

University
A BA in English Literature & Creative Writing from the University of Plymouth gave me a deep grounding in language, structure and the craft of writing. I bring this knowledge to every piece of copy I work on. I understand not just the rules of good writing, but why they exist and when they can be bent.

Editing Skill
I am also a trained proofreader, holding the Essential Proofreading certificate from the Publishing Training Centre at Merit level. This built on and complements my subediting skill set.
